This is an X-ray transient (outburst also observed in optical).
Probably it is not very practical to include this class of objects in
a 'nova' list, not only because they are so different in nature, but also
there are so many of them which have not been optically identified.
(And also includes different sort of objects, like CI Cam).
In addition to "X-ray Nova Vel", there was also a very bright one in
1992 (V518 Per = GRO J0422+32). Additional fainter ones.
