[vsnet-chat 1945] V500 Aql: an SW Sex system - ?

Congratulations to Dr. R. Haefner for his discovery of the
eclipses in V500 Aql. If the period is indeed ~3.5 hr.,
than the nova might be an SW Sex system, so observers who
are interested in (SW) Sex (systems) should try some spectra.

By the way, it seems to me that his conclusion (that the 0.15 mag
difference between his 2 nights indicates a possible dwarf nova
outburst) is probably wrong. Such nightly variations are common in
old nova (e.g. DN Gem, HR Lyr, RW UMi...).

Regards,
Alon
