Re: On the nature of V2323 Sgr
According to T. Lloyd Evans (MNRAS 174, 169), V2323 Sgr was included
in the table of "Mira variables not confirmed by the present observations",
with remarks of "blue star" and "star indicated by Oosterhoff et al. is not
variable on our I plates".
Examination of their plate II, the original V2323 Sgr looks brighter than
GSC6851.1670 181553.28 -275703.9 (2000.0) 11.85 6
and fainter than
GSC6851.126 181558.24 -275734.4 (2000.0) 12.11 6
on their I plate. V2323 Sgr is appreciably fainter than these stars
in Oosterhoff et al.'s original pg plate. I could not find a reason why
the author judged the star to be blue. The materials rather suggest a
redder star than its neighbors. Evans may have measured another star.
