[vsnet-chat 920] About photometry software on PC

>DAOPHOT II can be run 'hands off' with a shell script in UNIX
>or with a .BAT file under DOS.

I do not know well that PC DAOPHOT II can be operated by batch procedure on DOS.

Any way, thank you, Warhurst-san for information about DAOPHOT II.

Follwings are some comments about DOS based CCD software MIRA.

I think that R. Newbery, president of AXIOM Inc. has good knowledge (and may be experience)
for photometry. So, MIRA is good software for accurate photometry.
Recent version has automatic procedure for time-series photometry.

However, there are some disadvantages.

1. very expensive (about $500) - as Warthurst wrote
2. Dos based software
   - we need to choose carefully graphic cards that supported by MIRA.
DOSextender -extension program to use over 1MB RAM on DOS - might not work well on some
PCs.

MS-Windows version of MIRA will be available in near feature. (e-mail from Dr. Newbery)

I am an only user of MIRA software and have no profit from AXIOM Inc.
