(fwd) Re: GK Per 118 S COMP From: aah@nofs.navy.mil Date: Mon, 11 Mar 2002 20:24:06 -0700 Subject: [vsnet-chat 5233] Re: GK Per 118 S COMP It is simple for someone with photometric filters, even on a nonphotometric night, to measure this comp star since there is a very good existing dataset at ftp://ftp.nofs.navy.mil/pub/outgoing/aah/sequence/gkper.dat All you do is include some of the stars from gkper.dat in your frame to set the zeropoint, and then determine the brightness of the unknown star. In fact, just to clear up the issue, I measured the 'offending' comp star this evening. Results: RA (J2000) DEC V B-V 03:31:11.57 +43:43:37.3 11.443 0.313 Estimated errors are about 0.01mag. This is of course a single night measure and does not guard against variability. Arne
