[vsnet-campaign 1312] VSNET Weekly Campaign Summary
VSNET Weekly Campaign Summary
*** Last week news ***
(new targets)
IY UMa (RA = 10h43m56s.87, Dec = +58d07'32".5)
On May 7, a superoutburst of the deeply eclipsing SU UMa-type
dwarf nova IY UMa was detected (vsnet-campaign-dn 2362, 2364,
2366). The light curve taken by L. Cook on May 8 shows superhumps
with a complex structure. T. Kato noticed that the overall light
curve resembles that of DV UMa on the first night of the 1999
superoutburst (vsnet-campaign-dn 2379). Superhumps were observed
to increase in amplitude in the early May 11, when their amplitude
reached to 0.8mag (vsnet-campaign-dn 2390). During the very early
phase of the superoutburst, the period of superhump was relatively
short (0.07500 d), and then the superhump period increased.
The data on May 10-11 shows a superhump period of 0.07643 d
(vsnet-campaign-dn 2391, 2396). The VSNET collaboration team has
received CCD time-series observations which were kindly sent from
L. Cook, D. Starkey, J. Pietz, G. Masi, and the Nyrola team
(vsnet-campaign-dn 2398). The superoutburst is still ongoing
(vsnet-campaign-dn 2371, 2372, 2373, 2377, 2381, 2382, 2383, 2384,
2386, 2387, 2393, 2394).
SN 2002cs (RA = 18h46m59s.96, Dec = +45d42'19".7)
SN 2002cs was independently discovered on May 5 by the LOTOSS
team and by M. Armstrong. The object was 16.3mag (Armstrong) and
15.9mag (KAIT) at its discovery. It is located about 25" due east
of the nucleus of NGC 6702 (vsnet-campaign-sn 421). IAUC 7894
informed that the spectrum, taken by the Padova team, the CfA team,
and the Lick team on May 7, revealed that it is of type Ia near
maximum. They all noted that the expansion velocity is somewhat
larger than that for a normal one, which suggests that it can be
intrinsically brighter (vsnet-campaign-sn 424).
GP Com (RA = 13h05m42s.85, Dec = +18d01'02".6)
A possible outburst of this helium cataclysmic variable was
indicated on May 7 (14.9mag; vsnet-campaign 1310), but then
confirmed that it was not in a major outburst (vsnet-campaign
1311, vsnet-campaign-dn 2365, 2367, 2368, 2370, 2374, 2389, 2392).
EG Cnc (RA = 08h43m04s.04, Dec = +27d51'49".9)
According to AAVSO News Flash No. 962, a positive observation
of EG Cnc has been reported without a special comment
(vsnet-campaign-dn 2385), but the Kyoto team confirmed that it
was faint on May 12 (vsnet-campaign-dn 2397).
(continuous targets)
WZ Sge (RA = 20h07m36s.53, Dec = +17d42'15".3)
WZ Sge was reported to be still slightly brighter than its
quiescent level (vsnet-campaign-dn 2399).
SN 2002cr (RA = 14h06m37s.59, Dec = -05d26'21".9)
The object remains around the maximum (vsnet-campaign-sn 422).
UV Per (RA = 02h10m13s.58, Dec = +57d11'26".8)
The short outburst has faded (vsnet-campaign-dn 2380).
MKN 421 (RA = 11h04m27s, Dec = +38d12'32")
The object is now again in a bright state (vsnet-campaign-blazar
262).
V503 Cyg (RA = 20h27m15s.61, Dec = +43d41'45".5)
The superoutburst is still ongoing. T. Kato commented that
the well-known regular pattern of superoutbursts has been disturbed
since the end of 2001 (vsnet-campaign-dn 2400).
CR Boo (RA = 13h48m55s.42, Dec = +07d57'30".3)
It is still bright at about 14.0-14.1mag (vsnet-campaign-dn 2401).
delta Sco (RA = 16h00m19s.9, Dec = -22d37'17")
Recent observations have indicated that the object slightly
faded (vsnet-campaign-be 183).
V803 Cen (RA = 13h23m44s.5, Dec = -41d44'30".1)
The faint state was terminated by an outburst (14.4mag)
occurred on May 7 (vsnet-campaign-dn 2361, 2369, 2378).
FG Sge (RA = 20h11m56s.14, Dec = +20d20'03".6)
The slow brightening continues. The object is now at about
13.4mag (vsnet-campaign-rcb 33).
V2051 Oph (RA = 17h08m19.1s, Dec = -25d48m31.1s)
R. Stubbings reported that the object is undergoing a very
long outburst at a faint level (vsnet-campaign-v2051 11).
The Kyoto team performed CCD time-series photometry on May 12
and confirmed that it is still in outburst. The light curve
shows double humps, which resemble a combination of superhumps
and late superhumps (vsnet-campaign-v2051oph 13). The outburst
is still ongoing (vsnet-campaign-v2051oph 8, 9, 10, 13).
IX Dra (RA = 18h12m32s.2, Dec = +67d04'41")
An outburst of 15.5mag was reported on May 8 by P. A. Dubovsky
(vsnet-campaign-dn 2388). The next outburst was observed on
May 11 at 15.3mag by M. Reszelski (vsnet-campaign-dn 2395).
V838 Mon (RA = 07h04m04s.816, Dec = -03d50'50".94)
Observations by S. Kiyota shows that the object was Ic=7.72
on May 2 (vsnet-campaign-v838mon 366). A. Henden commented that
CCD observations with V- and Rc-filters are seriously affected
with the contribution from the nebula (vsnet-campaign-v838mon 367).
The object is still faint (vsnet-campaign-v838mon 368, 369).
V4334 Sgr (RA = 17h52m32s.70, Dec = -17d41'07".9)
An observation of 16.4C mag reported by D. West on May 9
implies that the object is possibly recovering (vsnet-campaign-rcb 32).
BL Lac (RA = 22h02m42s.86, Dec = +42d16'37".6)
The object was reported to be slightly brightening
(vsnet-campaign-blazar 261).
