VSNET Weekly Campaign Summary *** Last week news *** (new targets) IW And (RA = 01h01m08s.82, Dec = +43d23'27".3) T. Kinnunen detected an outburst of IW And at 14.2mag on December 5 (vsnet-campaign-dn 1958). The outburst was confirmed by an observation of 14.3mag by M. Simonsen on December 7 (vsnet-campaign-dn 1960). The Kyoto team obtained two nights' run. The object apparently brightened further (by 0.4 mag) on Dec. 7. The present brightness has apparently attained its brightest record. Time-series photometry on both nights show only slow modulations (vsnet-campaign-dn 1963). The outburst is still ongoing, and the current magnitude is about 14.3mag (vsnet-campaign-dn 1965). SN 2001ib (RA = 22h15m38s.72, Dec = +37d17'56".0) A fairly bright SN (mag about 15.3 on December 7) in the evening sky was discovered by M. Armstrong and R. Arbour independently. The position is about 10" west and 1" north of the nucleus of the apparently spiral galaxy NGC 7242. The expected maximum for the typical unreddened SN Ia in this galaxy is mag about 16.0, and the Galactic extinction for this position is expected as large as A_R = 0.4. So, the observed (discovery mag 15.3) brightness is unusually large (vsnet-campaign-sn 291). SN 2001hf (RA = 09h05m07s.44, Dec = -18d31'04".8) The LOTOSS team discovered SN 2001hf on CCD images taken on November 27 and December 4. The host galaxy of SN 2001hf is MCG -03-23-17 = ESO 564-G015. H. Yamaoka reported that the expected maximum of typical SN Ia in this galaxy is mag about 16, considering the Galactic extinction (vsnet-campaign-sn 287). The CfA team has revealed that it is of type II SN near maximum from the spectrum taken on Dec. 6.51. The discovery magnitude (161:C on Nov. 27.3 or Dec. 4.5) and the reported magnitude (R=16.6, I=16.3 on Dec. 5.31) suggest that it is somewhat bright one among the SNe II (vsnet-campaign-sn 290). SN 2001hg (RA = 12h11m53s.18, Dec = +24d06'49".4) T. Puckett and A. Sehgal discovered an apparent SN 2001hg (17.4mag) on an unfiltered CCD frame taken on December 4. The host galaxy of SN 2001hg is the open spiral ((R)SA(rs)bc) galaxy NGC 4162, which has produced SN 1965G (discovery mag 14). H. Yamaoka reported that the expected maximum for typical unreddened SN Ia in this galaxy is mag about 14.3 (vsnet-campaign-sn 289). IAUC 7770 informed that the CfA team has revealed that it is of type II SN before maximum (vsnet-campaign-sn 292). SN 2001hh (RA = 22h36m30s.40, Dec = -12d34'08".0) The LOTOSS team discovered SN 2001hh on unfiltered images taken on December 4 and 5. The host galaxy of SN 2001hh = MCG -02-57-22 is a fairly distant object. The expected maximum for typical unreddened SN Ia in this galaxy is mag about 16.8 (vsnet-campaign-sn 289). The CfA team has revealed that it is of type II soon after maximum (vsnet-campaign-sn 292). HL CMa (RA = 06h45m17s.0, Dec = -16d51'35") Recent observations indicate that the object has experienced repetitive faint outbursts or a standstill (vsnet-campaign-dn 1961). Z And (RA = 23h33m40s.02, Dec = +48d49'06".1) Some sudden brightenings to 9.3mag were reported (vsnet-campaign 1235). No further brightening has been reported (vsnet-campaign-symbio 1). DY Per (RA = 02h35m17s.12, Dec = +56d08'44".7) Recent observations indicate that DY Per is now slowly fading (vsnet-campaign-rcb 1). SV Sge (RA = 19h08m11s.75, Dec = +17d37'41".3) SV Sge has almost recovered from the recent fading (vsnet-campaign-rcb 2). (continuous targets) SN 2001gd (RA = 13h13m23s.89, Dec = +36d38'17".7) By the CfA team spectroscopy (IAUC 7765), this SN was turned out to be of type IIb (like SN 1993J in M 81) well past (about 2-3 months after) maximum light (vsnet-campaign-sn 288). EY Cyg (RA = 19h54m36s.77, Dec = +32d21'54".7) The outburst has finished. The whole observations are seen in [vsnet-campaign-dn 1964]. AM Cas (RA = 02h26m23s.40, Dec = +71d18'32".3) An outburst of 13.4mag was reported by E. Muyllaert on December 4. The amplitude may imply that it again entered a low-amplitude phase (vsnet-campaign-dn 1956). BZ Cam (RA = 06h29m34s.49, Dec = +71d04'39".5) BZ Cam recovered from a short fading in the end of November (vsnet-campaign-nl 56). V1504 Cyg (RA = 19h28m55.87s, Dec = +43d05'39".9) The probable superoutburst is still ongoing.
