Subject: [vsnet-chat 5463] V838 Mon Light Echo Image

This morning I recorded the following image of V838 Mon http://hometown.aol.com/dwest61506/page5.html. The negative image clearly shows the light echo reported in IAUC 7859.  This CCD image was taken on 08/26/2002 10:44 UT with a 0.2 m SCT + Ic filter + ST-9E CCD camera.  The image is a median average of three 30 second exposures.  The Ic magnitude of V838 Mon was 10.3 and the radius of the photometric aperture was 10".
