NGC 3953 possible SN confirmation

   Y. Sano (Nayoro, Hokkaido, Japan) reports the following confirmation of
the possible SN reported in NGC 3953.

   11h 53m 45s.22  (J2000.0)
   +52o 20' 56".8

   The object is located at 34".8 W and 80".2 N to the nucleus of the galaxy.

   2001 Aug. 15.491 UT  unfiltered CCD magnitude 14.6 (using USNO A2.0 r
   magnitude)  Intruments: 28cm SCT, ST-9E CCD, exp. 50 s.
