It's fine to know that the identification is eventually confirmed. V1363 Cyg has been a problematic object for CV researchers. > As you may know, our team currently checks all identifications for "old" > variable stars, with many mistakes revealed. > In very many cases, we followed Downes et al. in our identifications of CVs, > but we also were critical on several occasions. As you may know, we have been engaged in confirming CV identifications on all possible occasions. This has led to many corrections to the old version of Downes et al. identifications. We suspect that a certain fraction of the current identifications in the latest Downes et al. would suffer similar uncertainties regarding identifications. When new outbursts are detected in stars with unconfirmed identifications, Yamaoka-san immediately undertakes a job (i.e. struggles with CCD images ;-) of accurate astrometry on modern astrometry grids. I hope you understand the importance of such a work, and the necessity of informing the result even if the new result turns out to be confirmation of the supposed identification. Regards, Taichi Kato
