[vsnet-alert 4499] SX LMi superoutburst

SX LMi superoutburst

Based on all information reported up to now, the bright outburst of SX LMi
is indeed a superoutburst. The latest reported superoutburst of SX LMi
occurred in 1998 November (Hanson).

(extract from vsnet-alert 3999 and 4003, on the 2000 January outburst)

The SU UMa-type dwarf nova SX LMi is in outburst, as indicated by the
following observations. The present brightness seems to be slightly faint
for a superoutburst. However, the latest reported superoutburst occurring
in 1998 November (Hanson), the present outburst seems to deserve further
attention (no outburst reports at all to VSNET in between).

---

As already mentioned in vsnet-alert 3999, this outburst would provide
an excellent opportunity to observe superhumps in the early stage.
The superoutburst of SX LMi was best observed on its 1994 occasion
(Nogami et al., PASP 109, 1114). The detailed superhump period and
period changes still await further observations.

Taichi Kato
