Forwarded confirmation request: Subject: possible SN in NGC5303 From: TOMITA Akihiko <atomita@center.wakayama-u.ac.jp> Date: Wed, 01 Mar 2000 03:36:44 +0900 (JST) Dear Kato Taichi-sama, We are writing to you about a possible supernova in a galaxy NGC 5303 (= UGC 8725). We (Tomita et al.) are now making spectroscopic observations of galaxies at Okayama Astrophysical Observatory using the 1.88m telescope. In the course of the observations, we found a star-like object at the northwest edge of this dwarf irregular galaxy on the auto guide monitor image (red image). The Digitized Sky Survey image does not seem to show this star-like object. The star-like object has a magnitude comparable to total magnitude of the galaxy. About one arcmin SE from the galaxy, a faint star is there, and magnitude of the star is also comparable to the star-like object (Mar 1, 2000 3:00 JST). NGC 5303 134744.7,+381818 (J2000) B = 13.4 [Data from RC3] Regards, Tomita A., Takeuchi T.T., Yoshikawa K., Ishikawa K., Ohta M. --- Yes. Yanagisawa-san (OAO stuff) says that the DSS galaxy image marginally have a bump that may indicates the star-like object. But to make sure, please forward to VSNET. Thank you in advance. Regards, Tomita Akihiko
