Dear Colleagues- The MACHO project has determined 2 on-going microlensing events are expected to peak very soon at high magnification. The probability of detecting planets around the lens is greatly enhanced in these high magnification events. Also, the brightness profile of the source stars (limb darkening) may provide detectable deviations in the event lightcurves. Extensive followup observations are urgently requested. Event OGLE-1999-BUL-36 (99-BLG-44) Star ID 308.38595.1020 RA (J2000) 18:20:30.0 DEC (J2000) -21:57:04 V ~19.8 R ~18.8 A ~10.3 and rising on 31 Jul, expected peak of A ~29.6 near near Aug 3.34 UT, duration 62 +/- 2 days. Event 99-BLG-47 Star ID 302.44928.3523 RA (J2000) 18:30:49.4 DEC (J2000) -14:10:53 V ~21.5 R ~20.3 A ~12.3 and rising on 31 Jul, expected HIGH MAGNIFICATION peak near Aug 4.40 UT, duration 101 +/- 8 days.
