Dear SN watchers,

IAUC 7066 tells that SN 1998ey is of a peculiar type-Ic. The
spectrum taken by Garnavich et al. (Harvard group) at Dec. 10.1 UT is
identical to that of SN 1997ef and similar to SN 1998bw, which two are
very peculiar type Ic SNe. SN 1998bw is thought to be an optical
counterpart of GRB 980425. However, gamma-ray observatories has not
detected the associate GRB with SN 1998ey.

The followup observation of this peculiar SN is highly encouraged.

Sincerely Yours,
