Re: CVC 158 (EF Peg confirmations)
EF Peg
In addition to superhumps, this star exhibited on the 1991 October
occasion peculiar "super-QPOs", QPOs having a high degree of coherence and
a large amplitude seen at the earliest stage of the development of superhumps.
The super-QPOs in EF Peg were particularly remarkable in that they showed
a rapid decrease in period from 18 min to 7 min within only two hours!
(see "Physics of Accretion Disks -- Advection, Radiation and Magnetic Fields",
ed. S. Kato et al. 1996, Gordon and Breach Science Publ. pp. 99-104).
CCD and photoelectric observers are strongly urged to observe this star
with the highest achievable time resolution (20 sec or better), rather than
usual a few minutes interval as suggested in AAVSO Alert Notice No. 242.
Best regards,
Taichi Kato
