   Sorry for my typo, I must have been dizzy with the IAU meeting.
The correct coordinates are

   17h 55m 28s.7  (J2000.0)
   -29o 33' 42"

   I believe your interpretation is correct.  Depending the MACHO's path
relative to the star, the star may be even amplified infinitely!
