1997 Jan. 12.715 UT, 12.5:; (in a cirrus cloud)
12.731 UT, 12.4
Sequence: AAVSO
Instrument: 203-mm SCT
Independent detection of this rare outburst.
The previous outburst was detected by me on 1992 Mar. 28.15 UT at mv= 11.0
(cf. IAUC 5484).

First clear night in 1997.
No observations of EY Cyg between Dec. 29 and Jan. 11 due to haze/fog.
