[vsnet-alert 559] SS Cygni in outburst

                  ***** SS CYGNI IN OUTBURST *****

This well-known dwarf nova is apparently brightening as indicated by
the following visual observations:

  1996 UT      Mag.  Class  Instrument           Observer

Oct.  8.79     11.7    1    20.3-cm SCT (123x)   Bjorn H. Granslo (GRL)
Oct.  9.776    10.3    1    7.6-cm refr. (80x)   GRL

The first observation was made from Fjellhamar, Norway, the second
from Blindern, Oslo, Norway.
