We have received an alert from Makoto Iida (VSOLJ, via M. Watanabe) telling an outburst of DV Dra, probably first ever detected since discovery in 1984. 1995 Oct. 30 09h 50m UT mag = 18 (rough estimate, 20-cm refl. + unfiltered ST-6) This 1984 outburst was studied by Richter (IBVS 3626), and is suspected to be a WZ Sge-type dwarf nova. For more description of the light curve, see Richter G. A. 1992, in "Vina Del Mar Workshop on Cataclysmic Variable Stars (ASP Conf. Ser. 29)", ed. N. Vogt, p12 (on "dip" during outburst, relating SU UMa/WZ Sge stars). The coordinates are: 18h 17m 24s.98 +50o 48' 14".5 (J2000.0) The star is located close to AM Her. Follow-up observations are strongly encouraged. A finding chart with tentative V-mag sequence is available at URL http://ftp.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/pub/vsnet/charts/DV_Dra.cht. Regards, Taichi Kato
