An image taken with the 30" telescope at Leuschner Observatory
on 1993 June 29 UT shows a stellar object near the position
of the SN candidate. This pre-existing object is 12.4 arcsec S
and 5.8 arcsec W of the galaxy's nucleus, and has R-band magnitude
roughly 16.
Although this is about 10 arcsec from the SN candidate's position,
I thought it might be worthwhile to mention it. The image taken
in 1993 shows no source at the reported offset (15" W, 13" S).
