[vsnet-alert 142] rapid decline of AL Com

AL Com has entered an another rapid decline phase as indicated by the
following nightly mean magnitudes.

  mid-UT AL-comp SD N band V-mag
-------------------------------- -----
950517.641 1.960 0.087 66 V 15.47
950518.563 2.919 0.193 162 V 16.43

  comp: Bertola V=13.51
  observer: T. Kato
telescope: 60-cm refl. Ouda Station, Kyoto University

A 6-hour photometric run confirms this fading trend is still under way.

A period analysis using PDM, after removing the fading trend, yields
a weak periodicity centered at 0.0581 day. It is likely weak superhumps
or late superhumps again became evident. Follow-up observations to see
whether this fading episode indicates the termination of the current
already 43-day lasting spectacular superoutburst, or another "dip" or
some unknown sort of major fluctuation.

Regards,
Taichi Kato and Ouda team
