Dear Colleagues, The latest AAVSO Newsletter included a new feature called Observers' Forum, edited by John Bortle and myself. We hope that this will grow into a separate publication that all variable-star observers will enjoy, and we would be very pleased to receive contributions of material from observers everywhere. Could you please think whether you might like to write something, however long or however short, on any topic of interest to observers? Observers' Forum is written and edited by variable star observers. It will discuss observing techniques, equipment (including of course photometers, CCD, etc), the organization of observing programs, and anything else of interest to observers. We shall welcome material from as many observers as possible, both old-timers and newcomers. Do you have any tips to pass on to others, or areas where you want advice? Let the most active observers tell the rest of us how they manage to make so many observations! Tell us about how you organize your charts; how you manage your observational data and get them ready to send to Headquarters; what publications you have found useful; what odd experiences you have had while observing. You do not need to be a member of AAVSO to write for Observers' Forum. We would especially like to hear from observers outside North America, so that all geographical areas can be represented. Observers' Forum will be sent along with the AAVSO Newsletter to all observers who contribute to AAVSO. We shall be putting together the next Observers' Forum shortly. Please send contributions to either editor: John E. Bortle, 39 Gold Rd., Stormville, NY 12582 E-mail j.bortle@genie.geis.com John E.
