[vsnet-obs 3253] ALEXIS transient 01h28m33.4s -56d22'33" 1996 July 25

G'day all,

   >Visual observation at 1996 July 26 15:20UT revealed a mag 10.9v
   >object at 01h28m -56d21' (+/- 4'), with no other objects brighter
   >than 11.2v within 10'. Weather conditions were poor (patchy
   >cloud, mist & Moonlight).
   >I am not certain if this was the ALEXIS object or one of the GSC
   >stars listed above. However, I will be checking this location

I had another look this evening (July 27 15:00UT). No object was
visible within 10' of this position. Limiting mag is still 11.2v -
weather has improved a bit, but the Moon is brighter tonight :(

Maybe this was the ALEXIS object? Or the outburst originated from
one of the GSC stars? A check with GUIDE 4.0 showed no asteroids
near this position.
