***** Nova Aquilae 1999 *****
Naked eye observation by Oddleiv Skilbrei (Honefoss, Norway):
Dec 1.700 UT, mv = 4.0.
Magnitude deduced by using V magnitudes of the comparison stars
from Hipparcos catalogue.
Magnitude estimates (Pogson step estimates): Beta Aql-2 (i.e.
Nova 0.2 mag fainter than Beta Aql); Mu Aql+4.5 (Nova 0.45
mag. brighter than Mu Aql); Nova equal to Epsilon Aql.
Using 7x50 bincoulars, he estimated its colour as weakly yellow
and whiter than Mu Aquilae.
Yours sincerely,
Bjorn H. Granslo
