Speaking of variables possibly without good coordinates, I am on
the prowl for accurate (not necessarily precise) positions for the
batch of Hoffleit red variables in Sagittarius observed for spectral type
by Houk in IBVS 228. Many of these have no accurate positions in SIMBAD
nor in the on-line GCVS. With the plethora of IRAS/MSX source in this
area, identification is not simple. I'm feeling lazy enough just now
that I don't want to dig into each of Hoffleit's finder charts, so was
wondering if this has already been worked over.
An example (of the 130-some stars Houk observed) is V1837 Sgr.
Knowing this has probably already been done by the Sternberg group,
I'm hoping to avoid reinventing the wheel if possible.
