If it had not been reported to the AAVSO separately no one would cast doubt regarding the VSNET report. Actually Taichi Kato points out one of the negative aspects of VSNET. VSNET does not validate it's observations, the AAVSO does. We all are human and subject to error. So it only follows that many more instances of incorrect observations are undoubtedly in the VSNET database than in the AAVSO database. I know this is a philosophical decision on VSNET's part and I do not wish to ( and will not ) debate that issue. However I think since Taichi Kato feels free to come to the AAVSO discussion list and call the AAVSO to task, it is only balanced to point out the fact that the AAVSO International Database is validated by professional staff whereas the VSNET database accepts all observations with little to no validation.
