   Oh, I forgot to mention this!  Thanks!  (Strictly speaking, Fast Fourier
Transform (FFT) is one of Discrete Fourier Transforms, since it deals with
evenly sampled discreate data.  The most practical use of Fourier analysis
in astronomy is period analysis of unevenly sampled data -- this is a big
subject, and we can even write a book solely on this issue ;-).

   So one can mostly skip learning the details of the FFT when applying
Fourier analysis to variable star works, although there is an elegant
mathematical trick in it.
