I want to apologize to Douglas Welch and Peter Stetson because I just realized that I have neglected to reference them in my modest little IBVS notes. At TASS we discuss potential variables in terms of this statistic all the time. I've never actually seen someone not involved with TASS talk about this statistic, but we sure find it useful.
