See also in the > AAVSO Journal: This description is not very true. V418 Cas was originally reported as a "nova-like" object (Nova-aehnlich) based on the rather rapid rise and the absence on POSS. Hoffmeister probably suspected a nova at the time of the discovery, but the discovery of another brightening in the past photographs probably led him to add "-like". Speaking of Mira stars which were long observed as dwarf nova candidates, one may remember the cases of SU Lyr and V362 Cep. Although these objects may not appear in CV catalogs, they more adequately represent the past confusions between these two classes. Regards, Taichi Kato
