>As you know, very important astronomical phenomena are in progress (including OU Vir and RX Vol), and I don't find any reason not to inform the AAVSO members of these spectacular events.< Of course, charts for neither star are available from the AAVSO website. OU Vir is a perfect example of why news from VSNET should be included in aavso-discussion. The current outburst was not reported in the most recent news flash. There have been other dubious oversights by AAVSO in the news flashes before. The last outburst of AL Com comes to mind. In spite of being notified personally in a timely fashion, Aaron, who is relatively unfamiliar with which CVs might be considered newsworthy, failed to report this to HQ, resulting in a significant delay of notification to AAVSO members. In these cases a little redundancy or duplication may prove tolerable if it means more data is collected. Mike
