[vsnet-chat 1927] Nova Vel 1999, any prediscovery data?

Nova Vel 1999, any prediscovery data?

First, special congratulations to the discoveres of Nova Vel 1999, the
ninth brightest historically recorded nova!

Knowing that the nova progenitor had a magnitude of 16, I am wondering
whether there have been any photographs or CCD images preceding the nova
explosion. Some novae have been known to show gradual brightening with
time-scales of months to years. V533 Her is the best-known example, which
brightened by 2 mag just before the explosion. Photoghraphs or CCD images
of the Nova Vel 1999 field may provide useful information of the prenova
behavior. Could southern VS observers call attention of astrophotographers?
