G'day Patrick,
Although there are an immense number of faint stars in the vicinity,
I reckon your candidate might be "it". I'm more prepared to believe
that Gordon had trouble getting a consistent pixel centroid on such a
bright object; instead of believing in a mag <20 progenitor.
According to the latest satellite image, most of the inhabited bits of
Australia are clouded out again. But at least the rain has stopped.
