Hello. I am Seiichi Yoshida working on the MISAO project.
In [vsnet-chat 1381], Brian shows us the rules of code for each star
in the USNO-A1.0 catalog. I have two questions on USNO stars and one on
GSC stars.
| -> <USNO-A1.0 1425.09823278> N=1
First question is:
Do we have to write it as it is above? The characters < and > at the
beginning and end, and a space after USNO-A1.0, are required?
Second question is:
| >> USNO 1425.09823278.
| -> <USNO-A1.0 1425.09823278> N=1
Which does it means,
(a) Although we were calling it "USNO 1425.09823278" until A2.0 was
released, we must call it "USNO-A1.0 1425.09823278" after this.
(b) We can write "USNO 1425.09823278" or "USNO-A1.0 1425.09823278" to
point out the same star (of course, the latter is recommended).
Another question is on GSC stars. Is there a rule to distinguish GSC
1.1 stars and GSC 1.2 stars? In my own case, I usually write a
5.40-mag star at R.A.=00 24 47.55 Decl.=+61 49 51.6 as GSC4015.3523
using GSC 1.1 CD-ROMs. How is it written if using GSC 1.2 data?
Thanks in advance,
