Dear Dr. Kato,
The object now called CK Cyg was overlooked even in "Geschichte und
Literatur...". It was discovered in the Soviet Union by someone called
Tsarevich (Mirovedenie Bull., 1923, No. 4) who had classified the object
as a Mira star, 12m to fainter than 14m.5 pg, with elements
Max = 2420049+361d*E. Then, L. Meinunger (Mitt. veraend. Sterne, 1970,
Bd. 5, H. 8, 160) checked some 600 plates taken in 1931 - 1967, mostly
with 13m(pg) limit, but some of them with 17m limit, and did not find the
star bright on any of the plates. He also mentioned a reddish 19m star
on Palomar prints at the position. He cocluded that the star was
definitely not a Mira ['concluded' in the previous line! Sorry!]
and suggested that the star might be a slow Nova. Meinunger also
mentions a publication by Seliwanow (Astron. Nachr., Bd. 219, p. 349)
and even mentions some chart, not good enough to judge if the Palomar
star is really the variable. In half an hour, I'll check the original
publications by Tsarevich and Seliwanow in the library.
Best wishes
Nikolai Samus
