Some of them my be explained by observers' habit (also my own). Well-
accustomed visual observers tend to feel comfortable at regularly visiting
a regular sequence of variable stars, regardless of the variability or the
visibility (since most dwarf novae are invisibile). For example, I used to
observe (when I regularly made visual observations) a sequence of RZ Sge -
WZ Sge - FG Sge - V Sge - PU Vul. A different observing sequence (sometimes
obliged by the interevening clouds) caused slight discomfort. CK Ori may
be on some similar regular visiting route of binocular variable star
observers, something like CK Ori - W Ori - CI Ori - RX Lep etc.
Another explanation: the vairiable element of CK Ori has been so widely
distributed (even a common book lists it as a bright binocular variable),
that people can't find reason to exclude this particular star from their
list.
