The server space is not, at least for us, a stringent limitation.
I have scanned some of Huruhata's VS charts, in GIF files of several tens of
kilobytes each. Even 10000 charts are well within an inexpensive commercial
HDD (when disregarding the efforts and patience needed to scan..). The main
reason why I can't put them in open space in the copyright problem. Though
I have inquired to the VSOLJ staffs about the copyright restriction, I have
not yet received any answer. The author Prof. Huruhata is already late, so
the direct approval is no longer possible.

I think the copyright problem is another motivation to establish a
license-free international chart/sequence library from which any observer
or organization can extract the necessary information for their chart-making.
I believe the VSNET charts are basically license-free, at least regarding
the part of copyright associated with our original measurements and relevant
compilation.
