Dear Brian and chatters,
I have examined the original literature again to get clues.
Of five new variable stars listed, I could find only two reasonable
identifications with the GSC-based maps.
V2 = V2059 Oph Field of view is close to 30', rather than 18' given
in the chart. The bright star in the chart corresponds to an SAO star.
V4 = V892 Sco (GCVS), but I suspect the star may be identified with
a GSC star of mag 13.8, at 16h 13m 45s.82, -23o 00' 28".5 (J2000.0),
which is closer to V891 Sco.
The other three:
V1 = V935 Sco (GCVS), I could not find a reasonable match. What is the
brightest star?
V5 = V942 Sco (GCVS), identification difficult unless we largely deform
the asterism given. No corresponding IRAS source at the given position.
V3 = V893 Sco ??
Regards,
Taichi Kato
