V585 Lyr: definitely positive superhump derivative

Dear Colleagues,

The VSNET Collaboration has received new data from Tom Krajci, Jochen
Pietz, Lew Cook, and Arto Oksanen. The entire data are getting more and
more impressive! The amplitude of superhumps decreased to 0.1 mag
(or even less), but the waveform is conserved (no prominent phase reversal
or secondary humps appeared). The timing analysis of the superhump
maxima has yielded a definite positive dot(P)/P = +9x10^(-5). The times
of superhumps have been well expressed by a single positive period
derivative. The mean superhump period up to now is 0.06039 d, though
this average is best regarded as a simple measure in the presence of
a large period change.

The overall variation strongly resembles that of SW UMa in 1996
(Semeniuk et al. 1997, Acta Astron. 47, 201; Nogami et al. 1998,
PASJ 50, 297). The object is expected to rebrighten in very near
future, and we will see the renewed growth of superhumps. Please keep
the current excellent coverage!

Regards,
Taichi Kato
VSNET Collaboration team
