[vsnet-campaign-dn 1135] WZ Sge data from RIT Observatory: Aug 5, 6, 8 UT

News on both "old" and "new" measurements of WZ Sge.

I have re-examined our B-band data from Aug 5 UT, and found small errors
in a few of the images. These errors caused the overall ensemble solution
to be slightly noisier than it should have been. I have removed the
errant images and re-run the solution. The measurements of WZ Sge
change very slightly -- the pattern is almost identical, but the
data are on average a fraction of a percent fainter. You can find
the revised data at

      http://spiff.rit.edu/richmond/ritobs/aug05_2001/aug05_2001.html

I have also looked more closely at the B-band data from Aug 6 UT.
That night was cloudy, on and off, and I was worried that the measurements
might be affected. After checking, I find that the initial reductions
are correct. Let me point out the VERY sharp dips in the B-band
light curve at minima at JD *127.59 and *127.71, which are clearly
visible in the light curve at

      http://spiff.rit.edu/richmond/ritobs/aug06_2001/aug06_2001.html

Has any other observatory seen similar sharp, narrow dips at minimum?
Is the likely to be accentuated at shorter wavelengths?

Finally, new data: we made I-band measurements of WZ Sge last night,
Aug 8 UT. There was a brief period when clouds blocked our view,
but otherwise the night was clear. You can find a report on this night,
and the data themselves, at

      http://spiff.rit.edu/richmond/ritobs/aug08_2001/aug08_2001.html

The weather looks good again tonight (Aug 9 UT), so we will try to
acquire another set of I-band measurements, starting at about 01:15 UT.
I hope we will overlap with Gianluca and other European observers.

                                                Michael Richmond
