It is now clear that both candidates in Wyckoff and Wehinger (1979) PASP 91, 173 and in Duerbeck (1987) Space Sci. Rev. 45, 1 are incorrect quiescent counterparts. It seems most likely the eastern component (the brightest of the three) of the successive three stars drawn just north of the stars a and b in Wyckoff and Wehinger (1979) is the correct quiescent counterpart. This identification would siginficantly reduce the previously supposed outburst amplitude to about 9 mag (now acceptable for a recurrent nova!). Regards, Taichi Kato
