By assuming the mean radial velocity of Abell 262 as 5000 km/s,
expected supernova maxima woul be
SN Ia: 15.8
SN II: 17.8
There is neither IRAS nor RXS counterpart.
The maximum observed magnitude may therefore suggests a galactic eruptive
object such as a dwarf nova. Observers are strongly urged to monitor this
object, try to obtain time-resolved photometry and spectroscopy in order to
reveal its nature.
