Dear vsnet-er, I have been examined DSS2 image of the host galaxy of "SN 1998di", and awared that there was a foreground star (or condensation) on the position which SN candidate was reported (IAUC 6982). Using USNO stars, this stellar object was about 17.0-17.5 magnitude at 1991 Sep. 2. (I will examine it more presicely again. ) M. Schwartz noted on IAUC 6982 that there was no stellar object up to 19 magnitude at 1998 July 22.46, so DSS2 could have caught the last time eruption.
