    The amplitude of the oscillation (this case, DQ Her-type oscillation)
is usually very small, and most of its power is detected in shorter
wavelengths (U and B bands).  So you need not to be disappointed if you
can not detect it visually.  However, major flare or flickering have
good chance to be detected visually, and equally very important.
