APPENDIX
The "Odessa Astronomical Publications" is distributed among 200 libraries in the world, the abstracts of the articles are referred in the "Astronomy & Astrophysics Abstracts".
Likewise majority of the journals we would like to receive files to produce easily the camera-ready pages. Because e-mail is too expensive for us, please do NOT send these files via e-mail - You may give them to I.L.Andronov personally or on a floppy by snail mail. The deadline is September 3. One camera-ready hardcopy is needed.
To avoid distribution of the own style file we use the standard ARTICLE. The commands are included in the text. As an example You may use vol.7 (1994). The abstract must not exceed 15 lines, the keywords must correspond to the As.Ap.Abstracts list.
If You plan to send the abstract only, please clarify in which journal will be published the full article. Such abstracts <0.5 pages may be accepted, but one may not achieve they will be referred in AAA.
Figures are accepted in the standard PCX format, allowing to edit and insert images, if needed.
The page is separated into two columns, thus the width of figures and
tables must not exceed 83mm=3.26 inches=980 pixels for one column
(commands \table, \figure) and 170mm=6.69"
The figures should be closed by the axes from all four sides.
Corresponding axes should be marked similarly with the axis marks at the
bottom and left axes. The labels should be directed inside the figure,
contrary to the default GRAPHER settings. Please use standard manner of
marks - using the values as round as possible and preferring multiplies
of 2, 5 or 10 for the last digit - e.g. 25.48, 25.50, 25.52 instead of
25.47, 25.49 ... or 25.467, 25.487... Please do not hesitate to use
additional axes and/or dividing lines to design Your figure. The length
of the long axis label is 0.12 inch. Please avoid large figures with
extended empty spaces. The recommended size is of ~3.25" width and
~2.5" height.
If using GRAPHER for DOS to prepare the figures, one may locate the left
bottom corner of the
co-ordinate grid at 0.68, 0.40 inch. In this case there will be no blank
margins at the bottom and at the left (for 3-digit Y-axis marks).
To prepare a graphic file from the Grapher, Please use "Set Output Device"
item of the "Configuration" menu to choose the printer "HP Laser 300 dpi
normal", to change the height of the figure ("X" in item 4, "Y" may be set
to any value larger than the width, e.g. 8 inch - in this menu X and Y are
interchanged). The "Output port" must be "6" (file.OUT) and "Plot rotation"
must be set to "Yes".
In other graphic editors one must choose "HP Laser Jet printer 300 dpi"
(dots per inch) and output to file.
The binary file prepared for this printer may be transferred to the PCX
graphic format by using the LaTeX program pcltomsp.exe:
pcltomsp.exe -op input_file_name.ext output.pcx
It will be exellent, if You could name Your figures e.g. by
Your name and # - You may guess how many "figure1.pcx"
or "Odessa1.pcx" may occur prepared by various authors!
The "thebibliography" environment in the "article" style suggests the
numeration of the bibliographical references. We use the "author, year"
references adopted in As.Ap. This suggests manual hyphens with a command
-\h (see example). Reference is ended by the line break command\\.
Thank You not only for an exellent contribution but for the perfect
file as well!
Example:
\documentstyle[twocolum]{article}
\oddsidemargin -3mm
\evensidemargin -3mm
\topmargin -14mm
\textwidth 170mm
\textheight 240mm
\newcommand{\h}{\linebreak\hspace*{3ex}}
\pagestyle{myheadings}
\setcounter{page}{1}% the first page # to be changed by the Editors
