Using several stars near mag. 13-15 within about 2 degrees of the
galaxy, the USNO-A2.0 'r' magnitudes average 0.4 mag. too faint compared
to standard Cousins R magnitudes. Thus CCD estimates should be adjusted
by 0.4 mag. (brighter) to obtain approximate R magnitudes.
Several stars in the same region appearing in the GSC show an offset
of -0.12 mag. compared to standard _B_ magnitudes (i.e. the GSC is too bright
by that much).
