V803 Cen: Short-Cycle Superoutbursts, Followed by the Oscillation Phase

In January, the object was relatively calm at an intermediate brightness
of about 14.3mag (vsnet-campaign-dn
2035). A minor brightening to 13.6mag was reported by B. Monard on
January 17 (vsnet-campaign-dn
2058, 2064,
2065).
After fading from this outburst, it was in a faint state in February (vsnet-campaign-dn
2089, 2115,
2129,
2137,
2142).
An outburst of 13.8mag was reported on March 4 by R. Stubbings (vsnet-campaign-dn
2148), but the object faded on March 5 and again entered a faint state
(vsnet-campaign-dn
2164). Another outburst of 13.9mag was reported by R. Stubbings on
March 12, but again faded quickly (vsnet-campaign-dn
2180).
The faint state continued until March 21 when R. Stubbings detected a bright
outburst to 12.6mag (vsnet-campaign-dn
2187, 2197).
The outburst lasted for about one week, and the fading from this outburst
was terminated by a new outburst (13.4-13.6mag) on April 1 detected by
R. Stubbings (vsnet-campaign-dn
2219). Following this brightening, V803 Cen entered a oscillation phase
at 13-14mag (vsnet-campaign-dn
2241, 2254,
2279).
It suddenly faded on April 18 (vsnet-campaign-dn
2325, 2334),
and returned to a faint state (vsnet-campaign-dn
2339, 2344).
The faint state was terminated by an outburst (14.4mag) occurred on May
7 (vsnet-campaign-dn
2361, 2369,
2378).
Another outburst (13.6mag) occurred on May 18. The durations of these outburst
was short (vsnet-campaign-dn
2428, 2437).
V803 Cen experienced a bright outburst (likely superoutburst), which was
detected on May 29 by R. Stubbings (vsnet-campaign-dn
2471). The last superoutburst started on March 21, making a supercycle
length of ~70 d. This value is quite characteristic to the "ER UMa-type"
outburst pattern of V803 Cen seen in 1998-1999. After "standstills" in 2000
and 2001 (IBVS 5091), the star has resumed its ER UMa-type activity. The
present observation makes the similarity between V803 Cen and CR Boo more
concrete than ever (vsnet-campaign-dn
2475). As reported by R. Stubbings on June 4, the object faded from the
bright outburst (vsnet-campaign-dn
2511), and then entered a oscillation phase at 13-15mag (vsnet-campaign-dn
2530, 2554,
2567,
2585,
2593,
2612,
2629,
2642).
The object became faint in mid-July (vsnet-campaign-dn
2652).
R. Stubbings detected a short, normal outburst (13.9mag) on July 31 (vsnet-campaign-dn
2686). The next bright outburst to 12.5mag was detected by R. Stubbings
on August 21 (vsnet-campaign-dn
2742, 2746,
2749).
The object experienced a sharp fading to <14.8mag on August 26, and
then recovered on August 27 (vsnet-campaign-dn
2755). Another rebrightening (13.3mag) was reported on September 7
(vsnet-campaign-dn
2811, 2825).
An outburst (13.4mag) was reported by R. Stubbings on November 10 (vsnet-campaign-dn
3018).
