UW Pic
B. Monard reported violent oscillations between 14.3 and 15.6mag with a
period of 0.0425d on September 24 (vsnet-campaign-polar
15, 18).
H. Yamaoka commented that UW Pic was identified as a northern star of close
(~3" separation) double, and so that precise astrometry will help to determine
which is real violently oscillating object (vsnet-campaign-polar
16). B. Monard reported the same activity also on September 25. He
also reported that the the actual counterpart of UW Pic (or at least of
the present active object) is not indicated correctly in the CV atlas, but
that it is the Northern star of the close duo, the brighter one on the
published image (vsnet-campaign-polar
17). About the identification of UW Pic, K. Reinsch commented: The optical
counterpart (later designated UW Pic) of the ROSAT All-Sky Survey X-ray
source RX J0531.5-4624 has been spectroscopically identified as the most
northern component of the apparent stellar triple visible within the 3-sigma
error circle of the X-ray position (vsnet-campaign-polar
19, 20).
