NGC 1961 = the host galaxy of SN 2001is also produced SN Ia 1998eb. The
recession velocity of NGC 1961 is 3934 km/s, from which the expected maximum
for SN Ia is mag about 15.6 (vsnet-campaign-sn
304). IAUC 7787 reported that SN 2001is was of type Ib, 2-3 weeks after
maximum on Jan. 8.86 (vsnet-campaign-sn
310).
