Fading of FG Sge

(vsnet-alert 353)

Tsutomu Watanabe (VSOLJ) communicates that a peculiar variable FG Sge (another possible "final helium flash" object, cf. Sakurai's object) is showing a sudden drop in magnitude. He estimated this variable at mv=11.9 on Mar. 8. Recent VSNET reports seem to indicate that the present fading started in mid-to-late February. A recent light curve constructed from VSNET observations can be reached through VSNET home page/anonymous ftp. (R CrB stars).

Taichi Kato
