VSNET Weekly Campaign Summary

  V1333 Aql		(RA = 19h11m16s.09, Dec = +00d35'06".0)

    J. Swank reported that the X-ray binary, V1333 Aql = Aql X-1 
  is now active.  It has reached a level near 100 mCrab on 2002 
  February 16 (vsnet-campaign-xray 113).


  GK Per		(RA = 03h31m12s.50, Dec = +43d54'17".8)

    P. Schmeer reported that GK Per may be slightly brighter 
  (12.8mag) on February 15 (vsnet-campaign-gkper 2).  The past 
  recurrence times suggests that the next outburst will be shortly 
  due (vsnet-campaign-gkper 1, 3, 4).  A possible outburst was 
  reported on February 15  (vsnet-campaign-news 134), but M. Linnolt 
  reported no significant brightening is apparent on February 16 
  (vsnet-campaign-gkper 6, 7).  E. Schweitzer reported the most 
  bright recorded maximum is mv=4.2 on JD 2446650 in the AFOEV 
  database (vsnet-campaign-mira 5).  The object is still in 
  slightly active state (vsnet-campaign-gkper 8, 9, 10).
  

  chi Cyg		(RA = 19h50m33s.9, Dec = +32d54'50")

    chi Cyg continues to brighten and may reach exceptionally 
  bright maximum of 3rd mag (vsnet-campaign-mira 4, 6, 7, 
  vsnet-campaign-news 135).


  SN 2002au		(RA = 09h34m37s.60, Dec = +05d50'15".7)

    According to IAUC 7825, its spectrum was reported to resemble 
  that of type Ia 1-2 weeks after maximum, but it was merginally 
  detected on Feb. 1.3, so the age would not be so old 
  (vsnet-campaign-sn 345).

 
  SN 2002av		(RA = 06h08m06s.34, Dec = -23d59'13".2)

    According to IAUC 7825, its spectrum shows that this supernova 
  is of type Ia near maximum (vsnet-campaign-sn 345).

 
  BF Ori		(RA = 05h37m13s.03, Dec = -06d35'03".1)

    A brightening was reported on February 4 by A. Sonka (10.7mag) 
  and February 11 by H. Itoh (10.3mag) (vsnet-campaign-orion 13).


  RS Oph		(RA = 17h50m13s.56, Dec = -06d42'30".6)

    RS Oph is reported to be faint (~12.0mag) 
  (vsnet-campaign-nova 837).


  V Sge                 (RA = 20h20m14s.75, Dec = +21d06'09".0)

    V Sge is now in a faint state (vsnet-campaign-nl 62).


  FG Sge		(RA = 20h11m56s.14, Dec = +20d20'03".6)

    Observations by M. Reszelski show that the object is possibly 
  recovering from the deep minimum of 16mag to 14.2mag 
  (vsnet-campaign-rcb 13).


  OJ287                 (RA = 08h51m57s, Dec = 20d17'59")

    Reported observations show the intermediate activity of 
  OJ287 at about 15.4mag (vsnet-campaign-blazar 251).

  SN 2002ao		(RA = 14h29m35s.74, Dec = -00d00'55".8)

    This SN could not be classified yet.  Gal-Yam and Shemmer 
  (IAUC 7810, 7819) note that it resembles that of SN IIb, and  
  Kinugasa et al.(IAUC 7815) suggest that it can be of type Ic.  
  The UCB group mentioned that it has very unusual spectrum; it 
  has strong He I *emission* lines.  Such emission lines are only 
  observed in the nebular phase of type Ib SNe, which is very 
  later phase.  There was no sign of such profiles on Kinugasa's 
  spectrum, so it must have experienced very rapid evolution 
  (vsnet-campaign-sn 345).  The fading rate of the object is 
  relatively gradual until February 5 (vsnet-campaign-sn 346), 
  and then, the object suddenly faded to 16.2mag on February 8 as 
  reported by J. Nicolas.  It was confirmed by Llapasset on 
  February 13 at 16.3mag.  Such fading is very unusual for 
  supernovae (vsnet-campaign-sn 348).  The faint state continues 
  (vsnet-campaign-sn 349, 351).


  HT Cas		(RA = 01h10m12s.98, Dec = +60d04'35".9)

    E. Pavlenko reported that the object remained relatively bright 
  state on February 10 after the rapid fading from the last outburst.  
  She also reported a hump just after an eclipse (vsnet-campaign-htcas 
  19, 20).  The object was then very gradually fading as reported 
  by M. Uemura and T. Krajci on February 12 (vsnet-campaign-htcas 21, 
  22).  No major rebrightening was reported (vsnet-campaign-htcas 24).

 
  SN 2002ar		(RA = 11h37m43s.92, Dec = +22d00'34".4)

    According to IAUC 7835, its spectrum shows that this supernova 
  is of type Ia near maximum (vsnet-campaign-sn 345).

	
  CT Hya		(RA = 08h51m04s.50, Dec = +03d07'43".5)

    The superoutburst continues (vsnet-campaign-dn 2117, 2121, 
  2125, 2128).


  RR Tau		(RA = 05h39m30s.53, Dec = +26d22'26".3)

    Since February 14, the object rapidly faded 
  (vsnet-campaign-orion 14).  The object recovered since the 
  late February 16.  The current magnitude is about 12.0 
  (vsnet-campaign-orion 16).
      

  SN 2002ap		(RA = 01h36m23s.85, Dec = +15d45'13".0)
    
    Reported observations appear to indicate that it passed 
  the maximum (vsnet-campaign-sn2002ap 122, 123, 126, 127, 128, 129, 
  130, 131, 133, 134, 135, 136, 137, 138, 139, 140, 141, 142, 143, 
  vsnet-campaign-sn 352).  The fading rate became more fast on 
  February 16 (vsnet-campaign-sn2002ap 144).  The object somewhat 
  recovered from the rapid fading on February 17.  It is now 
  about 13.0mag (vsnet-campaign-sn2002ap 145, 146, 147, 148, 149, 
  150, 151, 153).  According to IAUC 7825, its spectrum is very 
  similar to hypernova SN 1997ef about 2 weeks after explosion 
  (vsnet-campaign-sn 345).  Lauroesch et al. performed spectroscopy 
  and reported clear detections of interstellar NaI and CaII in 
  both the Milky Way and M74 (vsnet-campaign-sn2002ap 124).   
  Klose et al. also performed spectroscopy and showed the supernova 
  light is nearly unaffected by dust in M 74 
  (vsnet-campaign-sn2002ap 125).


  V2540 Oph		(RA = 17h37m34s.36  Dec = -16d23'18".4)

    A brightening to 8th mag was reported on February 11 
  (vsnet-campaign-nova 828).  The bright state continued until 
  February 14 (vsnet-campaign-nova 832, 833, 834, 836), and then, 
  the object started relatively rapid fading since February 15.  
  The object is now about 10mag (vsnet-campaign-nova 838, 841, 
  842, 843).

    
  SN 2002an		(RA = 08h22m47s.76, Dec = +24d17'41".7)

    The object is gradually fading (vsnet-campaign-sn 347, 350).


  SX LMi		(RA = 10h54m29s.93, Dec = +30d06'30".0)

    The superoutburst finished and no major rebrightening was 
  detected (vsnet-campaign-dn 2122).


  FS Aur		(RA = 05h47m48s.34, Dec = +28d35'11".1)

    The last outburst already finished on February 12 
  (vsnet-campaign-dn 2116).


  V854 Cen		(RA = 14h34m49s.8, Dec = -39d33'18")

    The object became brighter to 8.0mag as reported by H. Itoh 
  on February 16 (vsnet-campaign-rcb 14).


  V838 Mon		(RA = 07h04m04s.816, Dec = -03d50'50".94)

    The object is now gradually fading as reported by a number of 
  observers (vsnet-campaign-v838mon 137, 138, 139, 140, 141, 142, 
  143, 144, 145, 146, 147, 148, 149, 150, 151, 152, 154, 155, 156, 
  157, 158, 159, 160, 161, 162, 163, 164, 165, 166, 167, 168, 170, 
  171, 172, 173, 174, 180, 181, 183, 184, 185, 186, 187, 188, 189,
  190, 191).  On February 16, reported observations show that the 
  object is possibly brightening (vsnet-campaign-v838mon 182, 192, 
  194).  It is now fading gradually (vsnet-campaign-v838mon 195, 196).
  As the continuum fading, the H-alpha peak intensity is also 
  fading as reported by C. Buil and M. Fujii, which is contrary 
  to the behavior seen in most novae (vsnet-campaign-v838mon 153, 169).


  V803 Cen		(RA = 13h23m44s.5, Dec = -41d44'30".1)

    The object is still very faint (vsnet-campaign-dn 2115, 2129).


  U Gem                 (RA = 07h55m05s.55, Dec = +22d00'09".2)

    The object remained slightly active until February 13 
  (vsnet-campaign-dn 2113, 2119), and then, an outburst was 
  detected on February 14.  The Kyoto team observed eclipses  
  just before and during the rapid rising stage (vsnet-campaign-dn 
  2120, vsnet-campaign-ugem 1).  The rapid rising was confirmed 
  by visual observations on February 14 - 15 (vsnet-campaign-ugem 2, 
  3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13).  The object reached the peak on 
  February 15-16 (vsnet-campaign-ugem 14, 15, 16).


  UW Cen		(RA = 12h43m16s.6, Dec = -54d31'37")

    The slow brightening continues (vsnet-campaign-rcb 15).


  IM Nor		(RA = 15h39m26s.47, Dec = -52d19'18".2)

    The object is gradually fading (vsnet-campaign-nova 829, 831, 
  835, 839).


  UX Ori		(RA = 05h04m30s.39, Dec = -03d47'18".3)

    It is still faint at about 10.7mag (vsnet-campaign-orion 15).


  delta Sco		(RA = 16h00m19s.9, Dec = -22d37'17")

    The object is still very bright at about 1.7mag 
  (vsnet-campaign-be 163, 164).


  HX Peg		(RA = 23h40m23s.37, Dec = +12d37'44".0)

    The stand still seems to continues (vsnet-campaign-dn 2127).


  DW Cnc		(RA = 07h58m56s.80, Dec = +16d16'48".2)

    Some observations show that DW Cnc became fainter 
  (vsnet-campaign-dn 2126, vsnet-campaign-nl 63), but 
  a bright magnitude of 14.5 was reported on February 17 
  (vsnet-campaign-nl 64).


  HL CMa		(RA = 06h45m17s.0, Dec = -16d51'35")

    The object remained at about 12.7mag, unusual brightness 
  state, until February 11 (vsnet-campaign-dn 2114) when a  
  definite outburst to 11.5 mag was reported 
  (vsnet-campaign-dn 2118).  The outburst continues 
  (vsnet-campaign-dn 2123, 2130).


  V1039 Cen		(RA = 13h55m41s.27, De = -64d15'57".9)

    The object is gradually fading (vsnet-campaign-nova 830).


  V4740 Sgr		(RA = 18h11m45s.82, Dec = -30d30'49".9)
 
    The object is now at about 12.3mag (vsnet-campaign-nova 840).


  BL Lac		(RA = 22h02m42.86s, Dec = +42d16'37.6")

    The object faded from the outburst (vsnet-campaign-blazar 252, 253).


  V1413 Aql             (RA = 19h03m46s.84, Dec = +16d26'17".1)

    An eclipse will occur soon.  The object is reported to be 
  brighter than in the last season (vsnet-campaign-symbio 5, 6).


  AT Cnc		(RA = 08h28m36s.92, Dec = +25d20'02".6)

    The standstill continues (vsnet-campaign-dn 2124).


  eta Car		(RA = 10h45m03s.65, Dec = -59d41'03".7)

    The object has been reported to be 5.1-5.4mag 
  (vsnet-campaign-sdor 12, 13).
